Nominations Open for Alice T. Schafer Mathematics Prize

Chalkboard with various math symbols and the words: Math Prize

All members of the mathematical community are invited to submit nominations for the Alice T. Schafer Mathematics Prize, which is awarded annually to an undergraduate female for excellence in mathematics.

The nominee must be an undergraduate when nominated. Nominations of women from underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged.

The prize will be presented at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January. Up to three recipients will be selected, and the winners will each receive a $1,000 prize and an honorary certificate.

The Schafer Prize was established in 1990 and is named for Alice T. Schafer, who contributed a great deal to women in mathematics throughout her career.

Nominations are due September 15.

Visit the website for nomination details.
