Awards & Scholarships

The American Statistical Association (ASA) and many of its chapters and sections recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of statistics or the association. Awards and competitions for statisticians also are sponsored by many societies and held yearly. Below are links to web pages on which you’ll find lists of awards, fellowships, and competitions for young statistics professionals.

Opportunities for Undergraduate Students—Competitions, scholarships, and programs for students earning an undergraduate degree in statistics

Scholarships and Awards for Graduate Students—The following scholarships and awards are offered to graduate students who are studying statistics:

  • Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship
  • Health Policy Statistics Section Achievement Awards
  • John J. Bartko Scholarship Award
  • Lester R. Curtin Award
  • Lingzi Lu Memorial Award

Student Paper Competition/Travel Award to Attend the Joint Statistical Meetings—Policies and procedures that apply to all ASA section competitions. Included is a link to each of the ASA’s sections that offer paper competition and travel awards.
