$30,000 Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship Deadline Is January 23

The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship recruits the nation’s best and brightest recent college graduates and career-changers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) fields by offering financial support to complete an intensive year-long master’s degree program in teaching at one of Woodrow Wilson’s partner universities in Georgia or New Jersey.

How the Fellowship Works

  • Fellows are admitted to a master’s degree program at a well-established partner university.
  • Each fellow receives a stipend of $30,000. Once fellows are certified teachers at the end of the first year, they obtain salaried employment in high-need schools.
  • Fellows complete a field-based master’s degree program in teacher education, as well as obtain teacher certification in one of the STEM fields.
  • All fellows spend one full school year in extensive preparation for teaching in a high-need urban or rural secondary school prior to becoming the teacher-of-record.
  • Fellows commit to teaching for at least three years in a high-need school.
  • Fellows receive intensive support and mentoring throughout the three-year teaching commitment.
  • Fellows become lifelong members in a national network of Woodrow Wilson fellows.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Have majored in and/or have a strong professional background in a STEM field
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree in a STEM field by June 30, 2017 (or its international equivalent)
  • Graduated with a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the program and its goals

Applications to the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship double as applications to a master’s program at one of the partner institutions. There is no fee to apply. While fellows are notified of their acceptance within two months of each deadline date, all new fellows (regardless of acceptance date) will begin the fellowship program in summer 2017. Apply online by January 23.
