The Methodology Center at Purdue University is now accepting applications for its Summer Institute on Longitudinal Data Analysis, a week-long, intensive training program designed for researchers and professionals seeking deeper expertise in longitudinal methods.
The institute will be held July 12–17 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and will bring together approximately 80 participants from a wide range of career stages and sectors. Attendees may include graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, industry researchers, and professionals working in nonprofit and public-sector settings.
Designed for individuals with a strong foundation in quantitative methods, the program is ideal for those who are not yet experts in longitudinal data analysis but want to apply these approaches to their research or professional work. Participants will receive hands-on training using publicly available longitudinal data sets and will explore advanced analytic techniques with guidance from experienced instructors.
In addition to methodological training, the institute emphasizes practical skills. Learning goals include increasing comfort applying longitudinal data to health and social science questions, strengthening decision-making around measurement and modeling, and developing data visualization tools to help communicate findings to interdisciplinary audiences.
The registration fee is $2,000 for external applicants and $1,500 for Purdue-affiliated applicants. However, substantial scholarship support is available. With funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 40 participants will receive full support covering registration, travel, housing, and food costs. An additional 30 participants will be eligible for registration-fee support, typically for Purdue-affiliated or local attendees.
The application deadline is March 15. Applicants with a working knowledge of statistics who are eager to expand their longitudinal analysis skills are encouraged to apply.
