NISS to Offer Writing Workshop for Junior Researchers

The National Institute of Statistical Sciences is offering a writing workshop for junior researchers focused on writing journal articles and grant proposals. The three-day workshop will be held virtually via Zoom on July 17 and 24 with an optional in-person session on August 2 during the Joint Statistical Meetings in Boston, Massachusetts.

Participants will submit a recent sample of their writing for review by a senior mentor. This sample may be a current draft of an article to be submitted for publication or an early version of a grant proposal. Former journal editors and program officers will act as senior mentors, critiquing the submitted material and providing individual feedback.

Applications for the workshop are due June 15. In response to ongoing discussion about the use of AI in academic writing and publishing, the workshop will also introduce participants to agency-specific policies and regulations regarding the use of AI in publishing, grant applications, and reviews.
