Applications Open for 2026 CSAS Data Challenge

The Connecticut Sports Analytics Symposium is inviting student teams to participate in the 2026 CSAS Data Challenge, focusing on power play optimization in mixed doubles curling—when to use it, how to execute it, and how to defend against it. Participants will work with data from international competitions provided by Curlit, analyzing final stone positions after each throw to uncover strategic insights.

The challenge is open to students only. Registration is due by December 1 with submissions accepted until January 15, 2026. Finalists will be notified by February 15, 2026, and invited to present their projects at the 7th Connecticut Sports Analytics Symposium, to be held April 10–11, 2026, at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Winning teams will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Data Summit. Professors are encouraged to integrate the challenge into Fall 2025 statistics or data science courses.
