The nomination deadline for the Michael Woodroofe Award has been extended to June 15.
Established in 2023 by Dong-Yun Kim to honor Woodroofe’s memory, this award is for members of the Caucus for Women in Statistics and Data Science who completed their terminal degree at least five years ago and have made significant contributions to solving real-world problems by applying novel or existing theories.
Woodroofe was known for his fundamental contributions to probability and statistics. Throughout his career, he was an advocate of students, especially females, who he encouraged and supported to reach their goals. The caucus recognizes Woodroofe as a mentor and champion for the next generation of female thinkers and scientists. Likewise, Kim hopes Woodroofe’s intellectual legacy will live on and benefit science and society.
