Nominations Sought for Teaching of Statistics in the Health Sciences Awards

Do you know an exceptional statistical educator in the health sciences? Would you like to see their efforts recognized?

The ASA Teaching of Statistics in the Health Sciences Section (TSHS) is accepting 2019 nominations for the following three major awards:

  • Distinguished Achievement Award
    This award recognizes a section member who has provided outstanding long-term service to the TSHS and ASA.
  • Outstanding Teaching Award
    This award recognizes an outstanding statistics educator and mentor in the health sciences.
  • Young Investigator Award
    This award recognizes a promising “young investigator” for her/his promise as a statistics educator or in conducting statistics education research in the health sciences. A young investigator is defined as (i) a current graduate student OR (ii) a recent graduate who has received her/his terminal degree no more than seven years ago and who is in a position with rank below associate professor and does not hold tenure (or equivalent classification).

The first two awards carry a $250 prize, while the third carries a $500 prize. Details regarding qualification and nomination requirements can be found at each link provided above. The deadline for nominations is May 15. Email any questions.
