If you are a computer programmer and going to the Joint Statistical Meetings in Montréal this year, visit the ASA’s Section on Statistical Programming and Analysis (SSPA) booth. A section officer will be there to answer questions about SSPA and the role of statistical programmers in early-career jobs.
The section has more than 900 members and provides a venue for statistical programmers and analysts to discuss common interests, formulate strategies, share experiences and challenges, offer support, and gain increased awareness of the broader statistical community. They offer a variety of webinars throughout the year targeted to improving your skills, and, if you are a student, they offer travel awards.
Student travel awards help pay the registration fees for students and recent graduates who want to attend an ASA conference. Visit the ASA website for details and an application.
