The ASA’s Section on Bayesian Statistical Science (SBSS) is sponsoring a student paper competition for research on Bayesian methodology. A manuscript suitable for journal submission is required to enter the competition. Winners of the competition will receive partial support to attend the 2013 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
The candidate must have been a full-time student on or after September 1, 2012, and be a member of SBSS or the International Society for Bayesian Analysis.
The deadline for application is December 15, 2012.
Students are not required to first submit a contributed paper abstract for JSM 2013. Formal application should be made in electronic form to Sudipto Banerjee at baner009@umn.edu and include the following:
- A curriculum vita
- A letter from the major professor (adviser) verifying the student status of the candidate and briefly describing the candidate’s role in the research and writing of the paper
- The paper, including all tables, figures, and appendices, as a single PDF file
The top paper will receive the new Laplace Award, which includes a plaque and $1,000 to use toward travel to JSM.
Partial travel support for attending JSM and a certificate will be presented to additional awardees during the SBSS section meeting at the conference.
