In September, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) launched the Stand Up for Science competition for the most effective demonstration of how the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, or other federally funded research improves the health, quality of life, or economy of local communities.
FASEB is looking for exhibits, events, or web-based outreach materials such as rallies, science fairs, flash mobs, music/dance videos, theatrical presentations, or online games/interactive websites. The contest is open to individuals and groups. Prizes are the following:
- First-place: $10,000
- Runner-up: $5,000
- Five honorable mentions: $2,000
Events or exhibits must be held or started before November 10, 2012. Final submissions must be received by December 1, 2012, at 11:59 p.m. EST
