New Graduate Program Launched at Vanderbilt University

The department of biostatistics at Vanderbilt University launched a new graduate program in the fall of 2011, offering PhD and master’s degrees in biostatistics.

The curriculum is nondenominational with respect to the foundations of statistical inference and modern in its treatment of statistical principles. Students are introduced to biomedical research early in their careers, and computing and communication proficiency are emphasized throughout the program.

The program imparts a balance of methodological rigor, applied aptitude, and computational skills for students planning careers in academia, industry, or government. Applications for the fall 2012 class are now being accepted. Candidates with a strong background in statistics, mathematics, biomedicine, public health, bioinformatics, and computational biology are encouraged to apply.
