Meeting International Young Business and Industrial Statisticians

The first Young Business and Industrial Statisticians (y-BIS) meeting will be held at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, from July 23–26, 2012.

This conference is for undergraduates, PhD candidates, post-docs, assistant professors, and anyone studying statistics or who is interested in learning more about the profession.

A few of the confirmed keynote speakers include the following:

  • Narayanaswamy Balakrishnan, professor of statistics, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
  • Richard D. De Veaux, professor of statistics, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts, and author at Pearson Education
  • Agus Sudjianto, director of analytics and modeling, Lloyds Banking Group
  • Ronald Wasserstein, executive director, American Statistical Association

Invited sessions will be 60 minutes and include three speakers or two speakers and a discussant. Send your proposals to Paulo Canas Rodrigues at paulocanas@gmail.com by January 31, 2012. These sessions must have a specific topic and/or be organized by a company, bank, university, scientific society, etc.
