Join a 10-Week REU Summer Program

Research opportunities for talented undergraduate students of statistics are available this summer.

Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs are aimed at students who are interested in exploring advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to “real-world” problems. Participants collaborate with researchers on data analysis in a variety of disciplines ranging from astronomy to epidemiology.

The American Statistical Association REU programs are 10 weeks and hosted at Colorado State University, Morgan State University, and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In addition to the ASA’s program, the department of statistics and data science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, also offers a summer REU. The deadline to apply is February 28, and the program runs from May 29 to July 20. The theme is “Data Science for Justice.” Projects will be built around outstanding problems in the forensic sciences, social mobility, social equality, and international development.
